I honestly love it here, okay sometimes living with a host family can be awkward and there are down sides (creepy bus drivers being one of them..) but I couldn't be having a better time!
Today, there was nearly a massive crisis, we were having lunch and I had my phone on the table, a tramp came up asking for money from us (which is incredibly common, especially on the street that we were on, also known as 'prostitute street', cute) but then placed his newspaper on our table, to be honest I thought he was asking for a leftover sandwhich we had on our table, but no. Em saw that he'd picked up my phone when he picked up his newspaper-seriously a good job she saw it, none of the rest of us had any idea, just a bit confused and wanted him to go away! But Em saved the day ;)
Done quite a lot since last post, sort of. Went to the Royal Palace last Wednesday. It's free on Wednesdays for EU residents, and we got there super early so that we didn't have to queue for a silly amount of time-there was actually -0% queue and we just walked in. Unfortunately you're not allowed to take any pictures when you get inside, which is annoying because it's really absolutely beautiful. I loved it! It didn't take us very long to get around it, (I've discovered I'm not really the type of person who can stand and look at something for ages, I see it, I appreciate it.. and then I move on!) but almost every room we walked into got a 'wwooowwwww!'. I liked the throne room.. I honestly don't think I've ever seen thrones before, and this one honestly reminded me of Narnia. Love!!
Also, Saturday 15th was San Isidro day, who is the male patron saint of Madrid.. or something. He looks after us all here! So there was heaps going on. A few of us went to a picnic in a park, which was full of people and it was a total festival atmosphere, then we left to go and see a flash mob. Well that was the plan, I think the fact I'd heard about it showed it wasn't very secretive, a lot of people knew about it! And it wasn't a flash mob at all, it was a group of people dancing on a stage, and a group of people following them. Oh well. Oh and then we nearly died getting out of the crowd... there was about a five second time period where I honestly thought I was going to die... everyone just started pushing and running for no apparent reason, scary! My life didn't flash before my eyes, all I could think was that I needed to get into Corte Ingles!
After the absolute excitement of the 'flash mob' we headed to Burger King & Maoz to get some food down us. Then sat at the fountain drinking our boxed wine until the pub crawl started at 11. We totally were NOT feeling it, having already been out the house since 3pm, and the prospect of having to stay out until 6am... I was lacking. BUT as always, the pub crawl didn't let us down! It was actually just the 4 of us and then the bar crawl leaders.. who we've got to know a bit so it's all okay! So yes, at 10pm we were worried about having to stay up & out until 6... I actually ended up geting home at 1030am. Honestly, Madrid is the best. AND I still stand by the fact that the metro early in the morning is the funniest place of the entire world...
Well, fair enough since then I've not done much. Hanging out in the city, walking around, eating and enjoying the sun. Currently sat outside with Anabel 'teaching'. Nobody wants to work in this weather! But we are , like good little girls. We're also on facebook/tuenti/taking pictures/discussing music.. but she's managed to complete an English paper, so all is well!
Barcelona this weekend, and going to 'Pacha' tonight :)
4 weeks left it's already 19th May ... how is it possible this year is going so fast?
